Michelle Waller, LMHC

I have developed an orientation toward observing, listening, and reflecting to others.  This has informed my life path and relationships, leading me to my own ongoing personal healing work and to build a career in the helping professions including: teaching, service work, volunteering with underserved and at-risk populations, and becoming a certified yoga teacher and a mental health therapist. I have expanded my knowledge and experience with a range of healing practices to support the whole person, body, mind and spirit, and to address the many facets of being human in an increasingly complex and alienating culture.

Learning to access difficult to express emotions and experiences and convey them verbally is a skill that is built over time, with support. In my own journey, the following categories of healing have added significantly to my personal growth, self-expression, creativity and relationships: body-based exercises such as yoga, movement, meditation and relaxation; expressive and creative activities such as art making, writing, dance, sound and music; talk therapy to find meaning and put words to the human experience; and building broader connections through nature, philosophies, traditions and rituals. I have received formal training in these areas to continue to support clients in their healing journey.

Growing our internal compassionate observer and learning to incorporate a variety of healing practices results in a greater sense of freedom, joy, self-love, gratitude, and adventure.  As I continue my own work, my intention is to assist others along the way to find their own sense of freedom and creativity.
